Demystify the poetry publication process in this hands‑on workshop led by Adams County Poet Laureate Aerik Francis.
Francis will offer tools to help writers share their written work widely. Publication, whether through magazines or literary journals or anthologies, is a way to let our work travel beyond ourselves. Publication is also a way to enter writing communities and network with authors local and abroad. The process can seem scary or intimidating, so this workshop aims to ease the pressure and offer resources to guide writers toward acceptances.
The workshop will begin by defining the terms of publication and discussing the first steps in the submission process like knowing where to submit work and how to put together a cover letter. We’ll talk about tips toward putting together a packet of work as well as methods to handle rejections and acceptances. Participants will have space to ask questions and even begin submitting work. By the end of the workshop, we’ll all hopefully have more tools and confidence in finding publications that match our style and values.
This virtual program will be hosted online in The Outdoor Theater at Anythink World (click to enter).
