Come to Anythink’s second Youth Poetry Slam with Adams County Poet Laureate Kerrie Joy! You don't have to register to come support the poets who are performing.

Calling all teen and young adult writers, poets, and performers: You’re invited to attend and compete in Anythink’s second Youth Poetry Slam with Adams County Poet Laureate Kerrie Joy! Bring your friends and family to enjoy a fun evening with delicious snacks and a special performance by featured artist, Tekyra “Moe Awakened” Miles.

Want to compete? Here are all the details:

• To perform and compete in the Poetry Slam, you must not be over 24 years old. Teens and tweens are highly encouraged to participate (this Slam is for you!).  
• Poets will perform their piece on a theater stage in front of a live, supportive audience. 
• The top three poets will win Visa gift cards.  
• All skill levels and abilities are welcome to perform. 
• Slots in the poetry slam are limited; registration is recommended. Register here (via this events page) to claim your spot in the competition. 
• If there are still slots open on the day of the slam, there will be an opportunity to sign up in person! 

Location 

This event is being hosted at Parsons Theatre in collaboration with Northglenn Arts. Parsons Theatre is located inside Northglenn Recreation Center at 1 E. Mem. Pkwy Entrance, Northglenn, CO 80233.  
 
Poetry Slam Competition Rules 

1. Each poem must be original to the participating poet.  
2. Each poet has three minutes to read one poem. There will be a 10-second grace period. If the poet goes over time, points will be deducted from the total score by the scorekeeper. For every 10 seconds passed over time, 0.5 points will be deducted from the total score. 
3. The poet may not use props, costumes, pre-recorded/taped music, or musical instruments while performing. Performers are allowed to sing, beatbox, and make any other sounds with their bodies during the performance.  
4. In the event of a tie, the top two poets will face off in a final round, so poets should come prepared with at least two original poems they are willing to perform. 

Want to come to watch and support?  

Audience members of all ages are welcome to come cheer on the poets! Come have fun connecting with other poetry lovers and youth in your community. No registration is necessary to attend as an audience member.

All ages are welcome to attend the Poetry Slam, but only youth 24 years old and younger will be allowed to perform/compete. This event is free of charge and will be hosted in English.

Llamado a todos los escritores adolescentes y jóvenes, poetas y artistas escénicos: Están invitados a asistir y competir en el segundo Concurso de Poesía de Jóvenes de Anythink con la poeta laureada Kerrie Joy, del condado de Adams.

Trae a familiares y amigos a disfrutar de una velada divertida con deliciosos bocadillos y la presentación especial de la artista Tekyra “Moe Awakened” Miles.

¿Quieres concursar? Estos son los detalles:

• Para participar y competir en el concurso de poesía no puedes tener más de 24 años. Se recomienda a los niños y adolescentes que participen (¡este concurso es para ti!)
• Los poetas presentarán su pieza en el escenario de un teatro, frente a una audiencia solidaria en vivo.
• Los tres poetas finalistas ganarán tarjetas de regalo Visa.
• Todos los niveles de experiencia y habilidad de presentación son bienvenidos.
• Los lugares en el concurso de poesía son limitados, se recomienda inscribirse. Inscríbete aquí (a través de la página de eventos) para reservar tu puesto en el concurso.
• Si todavía hay lugares disponibles el día del concurso, ¡habrá la oportunidad de inscribirse en persona!

Reglamento del Concurso de Poesía

1. Cada poema debe ser original del poeta participante.
2. Cada poeta tiene tres minutos para leer un poema. Habrá un periodo de gracia de 10 segundos. Si el poeta se pasa del tiempo, se deducirán puntos del puntaje total. Por cada 10 segundos que el poeta se pase del tiempo, se deducirán 0.5 puntos del puntaje total.
3. El poeta no puede usar objetos adicionales para la interpretación, disfraces, música pregrabada o instrumentos musicales durante su presentación. Los ejecutantes pueden cantar, hacer sonidos vocales o cualquier sonido con el cuerpo durante su presentación.
4. En caso de un empate, los primeros dos poetas competirán en una ronda final, de modo que deben venir preparados con por lo menos dos poemas originales que estén dispuestos a presentar.

¿Quieres venir a ver y a ayudar?

Miembros de la audiencia de todas las edades ¡son bienvenidos a animar a los poetas!. Ven a divertirte y a conectarte con otros jóvenes y amantes de la poesía en tu comunidad. No es necesario inscribirse para asistir como parte de la audiencia. 

Todas las edades son bienvenidas a asistir al Concurso de Poesía, pero solo jóvenes de 24 años y menores pueden participar y concursar. Este evento no tiene ningún costo y se llevará a cabo en inglés.
